Congress Moves Forward on the Internet Tax Moratorium
9:02 PM October 29, 2007
Last Thursday the Senate passed da seven-year extension of the Internet tax moratorium, and added additional language which protects emails and internet messaging from taxation. The extension is three years longer than the version recently passed by the House. It was a copromise for chief sponsor of the legislation, Senator John Sununu (R-N.H.) who attempted to move a permanent extension of the bill on the Senate Floor. The moratorium expires on November 1st, and the final legislation will be worked out between the House and Senate early this week. WIPP urges all small business owners to contact their elected officials to urge permanent extension of the moratorium.
