Women Impacting Public Policy Extremely Disappointed by Small Business Administration Report on Contracting Goals

WIPP has expressed extreme disappointment on a report recently issued by the Small Business Administration on contracting goals. The report indicates the government, once again, failed to reach their five percent contracting goal for women owned business. In addition, the overall goal for small businesses of twenty three percent government-wide was not reached. The report also detailed the misclassification of multiple contracts intended to provide opportunities for small business, but which were awarded to large companies.
In response to the report, Barbara Kasoff tells us that there is no justification for the government not to meet these contracting goals and given the current economic environment women small business owners face, federal contracts provide opportunities that could make a critical difference in the continued health of their businesses. In light of the reports' findings we, as small business owners call on Congress and the next Administration to make certain these goals are a top priority for the next SBA Administrator and Congress provide sufficient oversight to make certain they are met.
As WIPP members, and small business owners alike, it is essential that we be updated, informed and active to all legislation currently in the White House.
